Document title: The SEA project implementation report

INTRODUCTION

The success of the SEA project came about as a result of a Request for proposal (RFP) by Pastor Cyndi Higgins, the founder and international director of Run Away Brides (RABS) international ministries situated in the U.S.A but with evangelical programs running in the continent of Africa. Through her ministry and service she has supported the school to access reliable electricity to which this report is in respect thereto.

BACKGROUND

Edenset primary and Nursery school, a remote school providing education to a community which according to 2002 Kamira sub county baseline survey had 0.4% of the population with ordinary level of education certificate. No wonder, the area is considered as the Karamoja of Luwero because of its deep rooted backwardness in terms of social, economic and spiritual conditions in the heart of Luwero district in Uganda, could never ever at any near future access electricity as now seen fully connected to the service through the support of RABS. This is a great ray of hope for the school to solve the frail sections of its efforts to reach out and sustain academic excellence.

This divinely designed opportunity comes following Pastor Cyndi Higgins compassionate heart to serve Christ in the heartland of Africa and in a holy discontent of passionately desiring to see children in Africa receive quality education as well as a Christ transformed community.

She was at the school located at a ‘small’ remote village called Nabinaka, in Mazzi parish, Kamira sub county in Luwero district, Uganda in 2018. She ecstatically preached in a RABS Conference organized by Good Samaritan Outreach International Church with, a ‘big God,” on the homeland of the school where she left the community set free from bondage.

No sooner had she left the government then planned to extend an electricity grid to the village which is over 30 kms away from the nearest electricity grid. Praise the Lord! That now the light of Christ does not only get seen in the spiritual but is also manifested in the physical illuminating the dark parts of life.

IMPACT / OUTCOMES OF THE ELECTRICITY INSTALLATION

What an amazing impact that has quickly come with the electricity installation program as implemented at the school! So far:

  1. There has arisen general parent and community excitement and great hope in achieving their educational objectives for their children. This has led to a start of the biggest number of the previous students approaching 400 despite Covid 19 effects yet other schools within the area are struggling with very few student enrolment.
  2. More new students have been enrolled with increased appreciation from parents, local leaders among others.
  3. There has been growth in church/chapel attendance, membership as well as Sunday school that is building a generation which will have more people appreciating Christ’s work in their lives as well as upholding moral uprightness.
  4. Three new qualified teachers from distant districts have been recruited and they have accepted to live and work with the school that needs them most which was not so before electrical installation, as they see a promising future and opportunities to further their career through research.

HIGH LIGHTS OF IMPLEMENTATION ACTIVITIES IN PICTORIAL REPRESENTATION FOR THE SEA PROJECT

The project implementation activities circled around 5 classroom block, staffroom, administrative block and dormitory, the chapel/church and included acquisition of electricity license, purchase of materials, wiring, installation, and labor. Materials were purchased according to the budget and delivered on site and work begun on 21st of December, 2021 despite the interruption that came about due to the demise of Eve Clive’s father the late Nsereko Edward on the 22nd /12/2021.

The contractors engaged in the activities were from a company known as Billy electricals LTD from Kampala.

THERE IS MUCH MORE WORK TO DO

The challenge and future Prospects

Because the five semi-finished permanent classrooms that the school has are unable to provide learning facility enough for children from Nursery to grade 7, the school with the little savings from school fees paid, raised a 4 classroom block to foundation level in August 2021. From here well-wishers, Mrs. Harriet & Joseph Sserwadda came in and supported with the building to wall plate level. However, with electrical installation there has been increased enrolment that created a need that now urgently requires completion of the building otherwise learning of the children is at stake. Therefore, we long for your prayers and still believing God for phased completion starting with roofing that has been estimated at a budget of 18,305,000 UGX ($5,720.00 USD) and soon thereafter do electrical installation estimated at 2,107,000 UGX ($658.00 USD).

RABS’ 2021 GIVING TUESDAY’S BENEFICIARY “Covenant Family Based Orphanage, Moi’sBridge Kenya.”

Children at the Covenant Family Based Orphanage

BISHOP SAMSON WALALA WITH SOME OF THE ORPHANAGE'S CHILDREN
BISHOP SAMSON WALALA WITH SOME OF THE ORPHANAGE’S CHILDREN

HOW WE’VE FINANCIAL OPERATED THE ORPHANAGE: We had been running the orphanage with small local church donations, philanthropy from abroad, and supplementing the costs for school, food, and care, by farming and harvesting marketable produce on a rented parcel of land. However, in 2020, the landlord died and his descendants refused to continue renting the parcel to us and this act derailed our financial ability. This unfortunate situation limited the necessary resources needed to take care of the twenty-nine orphans currently in our care. But, day by day the number of children could increase due to various reasons, but we are financially strapped and are unable at this time to take in any more school-aged children due to the outside expenses for education. We need additional support from donors such as USAID, church organizations, philanthropists just to name a few to meet the needs. Also a few staff members are needed as both Samson and Rose are in their early-seventies and its difficult for them to do all the necessary work to do everything needed for these orphans. We seek continuous financial support to manage the facility. Thank you, Bishop Samson Walala and Rose Walala.

WHAT DO RATS, JIGGERS, SCABIES, FREE FLOUR, MEDICAL AND FOOD PROGRAMS, MISSIONARIES, AND AN ORPHANAGE, HAVE IN COMMON?

THE COMMON THING THEY ALL HAVE IS YOU AND ME THROUGH RUN AWAY BRIDES INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES. We can all come together and help these that truly cannot help themselves. Open your hearts, beloveds, and see what the Lord will do with the blessings He has blessed you with. We thank all of our RABS International Ministries’ prayer and financial partners. Without you these many humanitarian outreaches would not be possible. With your help we have accomplished a lot and we are grateful.

March 2021, was a busy month for RABS International Ministries. We had missionaries helping in the remote villages of Karamoja Region in the most wilderness areas of Uganda. Our missionaries, Pastor Denis Muwanguzi and Rev. Eva Clive Nansereko have worked hard in this regions and now the challenges for the villagers is even greater than before. They are currently there (April 21, 2021) working to eradicate the infestation of rats, scabies, and jiggers. They have also carried in food and water and medicine for the villages.

Our volunteer missionaries did seven missions carrying the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Uganda and two missions in DRC (Democratic Republic of the Congo) in March and April 2021. They visited several churches and were hosted for RABS 3-day conferences in Uganda: Nakasongola, Bulesa/Buuni, Bukimo, Buwolero, Bugiri, Nansaga, and Kigulu. In DRC: Kasindi District, and Mambasa District.

On International Women’s Day, March 7, 2021, in Kiereka Kasokoso, Uganda, a suburb of Kampala, Mama Cyndi’s Milling Company gave away 100 (5kg–11.2 pounds) of Maize Flour to vulnerable widows and single mothers of the community. Covid-19 has drastically increased the malnutrition and starvation issues already existing in the forgotten ghettos and remote villages.

Now the RABS family has opened their hearts to a new cry for help! As with any ministry and especially during a pandemic, needs continue coming in. This current ministry need has come to us as many of the previous financial partners of Covenant Family of God Home Based Orphanage, Moi’sBridge, Kenya, are currently unable to help due to Covid-19 deaths, sicknesses, and financial losses. RABS is hoping to fill the gap with prayers and financial gifts. Bishop Barasa, RABS Kenya Volunteer National Director, made a visit to the orphanage and met with a long-time friend of RABS, Bishop Samson Walala. Bishop Barasa has given us a full report of the current situation., which can be read if you download the attached PDF.

Currently 6 children are in higher education, one even accepted to Nzoia College of Nursing, and 19 children in different classes within the primary levels. All of these children were street children. They have come from the streets and the garbage heaps and dumpsters of Moi’sBridge.

PLEASE DOWNLOAD the full report below and read all the RABS News covering these needs and the stories that go along with them.

God Bless you and thank you for all that you do to help in these difficulties that many are struggling with.

RUN AWAY BRIDES INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES APRIL 2021 NEWSLETTER

April 19, 2021

We thank all our RABS International Ministries’ prayer and financial partners. Without you these many humanitarian outreaches would not be possible. With your help we have accomplished a lot and we are grateful. Because of you and the gifts you sent RABS, as I write I can report to you that Pastor Denis Muwanguzi is in the mission field in Karamoja Region in the three villages treating the grounds and huts, to rid them of the rat, scabies, and jigger infestation. Additionally, water has been carried into bathe and clean all the villagers and medically treat them to help heal the skin rashes and infections the scabies and jiggers have left them suffering with because of this invasion.

Because of your generosity, Pastor Denis was also enabled to take drinking water, Maize Flour, salt, sugar, dry beans, and rice to the villagers as well. We are grateful that one of you is volunteering to sponsor Catherine, a teenage-single-mother. She has been accepted into a private school to complete her high-school equivalent Successful Students from Streets to School degree and then after six-months, she will move into a boarding school with her young-child into Vocational studies.

Bishop Barasa made a visit to the orphanage and he has given us the following report. Please consider helping these beloved children—one time!

Bishop Wilfred’s report: I found out during my visit to the Orphanage with Bishop Walala the director of the orphanage how desperate for help they are. With a sole-hands he and his wife care for these children with extremely limited resources. They house the children in their own house with very few facilities that can sustain these children and make the daily costs.

This photo is of the director with two boys who have been raised at the orphanage ever since 2009. Namely Victor asai who is in Form 2 and Amos Odera Form 2.

Those who are not in the picture but are also in high school include Linda Nasike – boarding school Form 3, Junet Anyango day school Form 3, Nancy Simiyu, boarding Form 1, Samuel Muyenga Musambai has been offered a place in Nzoia College of Nursing.

In addition to students in higher grades, they have 19 orphans in primary schools: 6 pupils in upper primary, 8 pupils in lower primary and 5 kids in Kindergarten. Their requirements are $21.00 per child as quality assessment fees. There are other requirements like school uniforms, shoes, books, pens, and other educational materials.  Other Challenges

  • Lack of Mattresses
  • Lake of blankets
  • Lack of shoes
  • Lack of enough space
  • Lack of clothes
  • Lack of books
  • Lack of educational material
  • Lack of cooking materials
  • Lack of enough food

The two beds which you are see are shared with 6 boys, 3 on each bed. In one of the pictures Bishop Walala shows where the food is been prepared with a small cooking pot. There is not enough space in the kitchen. Beds are shared with many kids with not enough blankets. They are using blankets as mattresses on some of the beds. I was shown bricks that they anticipate building a shelter for these children so that they can have spacious room for their stay, dining, and a better kitchen.

I am appealing to all well wishers, both men and women of God and all people of good will to stand in their fervent prayers to support these children individually or help the ministry in the following areas:

  1. SAMUEL MUSAMBAI: First Year College Fees Balance of $1840.00
  2. NANCY SIMIYU; has high School fee arrears $264
  3. LINDA NASIKE:  has high School fee arrears $263
  4. JUNET ANYANGO:  has high School fee arrears $100
  5. VICTOR MASAI: has high School fee arrears $100
  6. AMOS ODERA: has high School fee arrears $100
  7. FOR OTHER 19 PRIMARY CHILDREN Total needed $397
  8. Total Current Educational Fees Needed $3,064.

CLOSING REMARKS: The Challenges which Bishop Samson Walala goes through are verifiably viable.  I, Bishop Wilfred Barasa of Kenya, Kenya RABS Volunteer National Director have observed all these and witnessed with my own eyes the challenges which Bishop Samson Walala goes through as you can see in the photos him with me verifying some of the school documents. With an eye of favor truly-speaking, there is need for provisional support and prayers so that these children can put a smile on their faces, have hope for the future, and in this manner praise the name of the living God.

Yours faithfully,

Bishop Wilfred Barasa

Kenya RABS Volunteer National Director

MIDWEEK DEVOTIONALS

Mid-week Devotion for March 17, 2021

RABS’ MIDWEEK DEVOTIONAL FOR March 17, 2021

Dear Friends and Family

Jesus was steeped in the Hebrew scriptures. When He said in Matthew 5:10, O the blessedness of the pure in heart, for they shall see God, He drew from the rich Scriptures. In Ezekiel 11, God promises to gather the people of Israel back to their land from the nations where they are scattered. Then He promises in verses 19-20: And I will give them one heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone from their bodies and give them a heart of flesh, so they may follow My statutes, keep My ordinances, and practice them. Then they will be My people, and I will be their God.

One heart is the opposite of a divided heart. David prays in Psalm 86:11-12: Teach me Your way, Yahweh, and I will live by Your truth. Give me an undivided heart to fear Your name. I will praise You with all my heart, Lord my God, and will honor Your name forever. A person with a divided heart has one foot in the Kingdom of God and one foot in the world.

After prophet Nathan confronted King David of his sin with Bathsheba, he prayed: Psalm 51:10: God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me. The Hebrew word for “clean” is thahor. Girdlestone, in Old Testament Synonyms, notes that in the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures, thahor is translated as katharos, “pure,” the word found in the beatitude.

As we trace the verb katharidzo, “to cleanse” or “to purify,” we find that all the Old Testament sacrifices and cleansing rituals are fulfilled in Christ. We read in Hebrews 1:3: After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebrews 9:11-14 gives more detail: But the Messiah has appeared, high priest of the good things that have come. In the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands (that is, not of this creation), He entered the most holy place once for all, not by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow, sprinkling those who are defiled, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of the Messiah, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse (kathariei) our consciences from dead works to serve the living God?

1 John 1:7 tells us: …the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. Consequently, John encourages us in verse 9: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Paul writes in Ephesians 5:26: Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word. He also writes in Titus 2:14: He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for Himself a people for His own possession, eager to do good works. In light of these truths, Paul exhorts us in 2 Corinthians 7:1: Therefore, dear friends, since we have such promises, let us cleanse ourselves from every impurity of the flesh and spirit, completing our sanctification in the fear of God.

These passages teach us that the offering of Christ is effective not only for pardon from sins but also for cleansing for all who feel their moral pollution. Augustus Toplady’s famous hymn begins: “Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in thee; Let the water and the blood, From thy wounded side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure, Save from wrath and make me pure.”

Nor are these benefits afforded to the Jews only. When Peter shared the Gospel with the Gentile household of Cornelius, they were saved, filled with the Spirit, and spoke in tongues—much to the astonishment of Peter and his Jewish companions. In Acts 11:3, Peter was criticized by some saying, “You visited uncircumcised men and ate with them!” Peter simply told the story of their conversion and verse 18 records that When they heard this they became silent. Then they glorified God, saying, “So God has granted repentance resulting in life even to the Gentiles!” Later, in Acts 15:8-9, Peter notes: And God, who knows the heart, testified to them by giving the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us. He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing (katharisas) their hearts by faith.

The godly life, the ministry, and the sacrificial death of Messiah fulfill the meaning of all the ceremonial cleansing of the Old Testament rituals so that, the moment we trust in Christ, God sees us as pure, holy, dressed in the immaculate white robe of His righteousness. We are regarded as clean in the sight of God through the mediation of our great High Priest. But then, as we walk with the LORD and learn of Him, there is the actual moral change—the clean heart, the renewed spirit, the godly life. There is even a change in our social position; Paul tells the Gentiles in Ephesians 2:19: So then you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household….

The promise is that the pure in heart will see God. What can that possibly mean? Those whose hearts are changed by the grace, power, and indwelling Holy Spirit of God will see everything in a whole different way. Every bird, every tree, every flower, every rainbow reminds us of the love and care of our gracious Heavenly Father. We will see Him in the love of every friend and family member. We may even see Him in our enemies.

Love and Shalom,

Chaplain John Hollis, Arbutus Park Manor
