HOW WE’VE FINANCIAL OPERATED THE ORPHANAGE: We had been running the orphanage with small local church donations, philanthropy from abroad, and supplementing the costs for school, food, and care, by farming and harvesting marketable produce on a rented parcel of land. However, in 2020, the landlord died and his descendants refused to continue renting the parcel to us and this act derailed our financial ability. This unfortunate situation limited the necessary resources needed to take care of the twenty-nine orphans currently in our care. But, day by day the number of children could increase due to various reasons, but we are financially strapped and are unable at this time to take in any more school-aged children due to the outside expenses for education. We need additional support from donors such as USAID, church organizations, philanthropists just to name a few to meet the needs. Also a few staff members are needed as both Samson and Rose are in their early-seventies and its difficult for them to do all the necessary work to do everything needed for these orphans. We seek continuous financial support to manage the facility. Thank you, Bishop Samson Walala and Rose Walala.

March 2021, was a busy month for RABS International Ministries. We had missionaries helping in the remote villages of Karamoja Region in the most wilderness areas of Uganda. Our missionaries, Pastor Denis Muwanguzi and Rev. Eva Clive Nansereko have worked hard in this regions and now the challenges for the villagers is even greater than before. They are currently there (April 21, 2021) working to eradicate the infestation of rats, scabies, and jiggers. They have also carried in food and water and medicine for the villages.

Our volunteer missionaries did seven missions carrying the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Uganda and two missions in DRC (Democratic Republic of the Congo) in March and April 2021. They visited several churches and were hosted for RABS 3-day conferences in Uganda: Nakasongola, Bulesa/Buuni, Bukimo, Buwolero, Bugiri, Nansaga, and Kigulu. In DRC: Kasindi District, and Mambasa District.

On International Women’s Day, March 7, 2021, in Kiereka Kasokoso, Uganda, a suburb of Kampala, Mama Cyndi’s Milling Company gave away 100 (5kg–11.2 pounds) of Maize Flour to vulnerable widows and single mothers of the community. Covid-19 has drastically increased the malnutrition and starvation issues already existing in the forgotten ghettos and remote villages.

Now the RABS family has opened their hearts to a new cry for help! As with any ministry and especially during a pandemic, needs continue coming in. This current ministry need has come to us as many of the previous financial partners of Covenant Family of God Home Based Orphanage, Moi’sBridge, Kenya, are currently unable to help due to Covid-19 deaths, sicknesses, and financial losses. RABS is hoping to fill the gap with prayers and financial gifts. Bishop Barasa, RABS Kenya Volunteer National Director, made a visit to the orphanage and met with a long-time friend of RABS, Bishop Samson Walala. Bishop Barasa has given us a full report of the current situation., which can be read if you download the attached PDF.

Currently 6 children are in higher education, one even accepted to Nzoia College of Nursing, and 19 children in different classes within the primary levels. All of these children were street children. They have come from the streets and the garbage heaps and dumpsters of Moi’sBridge.

We thank all our RABS International Ministries’ prayer and financial partners. Without you these many humanitarian outreaches would not be possible. With your help we have accomplished a lot and we are grateful. Because of you and the gifts you sent RABS, as I write I can report to you that Pastor Denis Muwanguzi is in the mission field in Karamoja Region in the three villages treating the grounds and huts, to rid them of the rat, scabies, and jigger infestation. Additionally, water has been carried into bathe and clean all the villagers and medically treat them to help heal the skin rashes and infections the scabies and jiggers have left them suffering with because of this invasion. 

Because of your generosity, Pastor Denis was also enabled to take drinking water, Maize Flour, salt, sugar, dry beans, and rice to the villagers as well. We are grateful that one of you is volunteering to sponsor Catherine, a teenage-single-mother. She has been accepted into a private school to complete her high-school equivalent Successful Students from Streets to School degree and then after six-months, she will move into a boarding school with her young-child into Vocational studies.

Bishop Wilfred’s report: I found out during my visit to the Orphanage with Bishop Walala the director of the orphanage how desperate for help they are. With a sole-hands he and his wife care for these children with extremely limited resources. They house the children in their own house with very few facilities that can sustain these children and make the daily costs.

Those who are not in the picture but are also in high school include Linda Nasike – boarding school Form 3, Junet Anyango day school Form 3, Nancy Simiyu, boarding Form 1, Samuel Muyenga Musambai has been offered a place in Nzoia College of Nursing.

In addition to students in higher grades, they have 19 orphans in primary schools: 6 pupils in upper primary, 8 pupils in lower primary and 5 kids in Kindergarten. Their requirements are $21.00 per child as quality assessment fees. There are other requirements like school uniforms, shoes, books, pens, and other educational materials.  Other Challenges

The two beds which you are see are shared with 6 boys, 3 on each bed. In one of the pictures Bishop Walala shows where the food is been prepared with a small cooking pot. There is not enough space in the kitchen. Beds are shared with many kids with not enough blankets. They are using blankets as mattresses on some of the beds. I was shown bricks that they anticipate building a shelter for these children so that they can have spacious room for their stay, dining, and a better kitchen.

I am appealing to all well wishers, both men and women of God and all people of good will to stand in their fervent prayers to support these children individually or help the ministry in the following areas:

CLOSING REMARKS: The Challenges which Bishop Samson Walala goes through are verifiably viable.  I, Bishop Wilfred Barasa of Kenya, Kenya RABS Volunteer National Director have observed all these and witnessed with my own eyes the challenges which Bishop Samson Walala goes through as you can see in the photos him with me verifying some of the school documents. With an eye of favor truly-speaking, there is need for provisional support and prayers so that these children can put a smile on their faces, have hope for the future, and in this manner praise the name of the living God.

Warm greetings RABS & Mummy Cyndi

I am grateful to God for enabling me to travel and conduct RABS’ ministry activities in Karamoja Region in Kaabong and Moroto districts. I was able to pay the 15 student’s fees and buy their uniforms and provide their scholastic material funds and pay for their daily food and care expenses. I thank RABS for the prayers and support rendered. Every mission has its unique challenges and experiences, but God abides with us through all.

I thank God for the educational funds and village treatment funds I received from RABS USA. I came to realize everywhere you go in Karamoja, they are battling with scabies, jiggers, bed bugs and rats and hunger. I am perplexed beyond reason at the level of infestation and starvation they are suffering. This nature and magnitude of infestation necessitates the spraying of all households before even administering treatment to the individuals. I had to buy two medium sprayers for the task. I also managed to acquire some medication for scabies and some for jiggers plus some rodenticide. Since their huts are built close to one another, and a good number of them already suffering from these communicable problems. I needed to conduct the spraying and treatment operation in the entire villages, but I could not.

First, I had limited medication and it could only be applied to a few people and just enough spray for a few huts. Secondly, the spraying required the huts be first entirely dampened before spraying and those being treated to first bathe before applying the medication to their bodies. However, it is so hot and dry in these villages that folks can spend days even weeks without bathing. Water is very scarce. Thirdly, I had no food to give them while I was conducting the operation, which means they could not leave the compound and scavenge for their food, because it was needful for all of them to be fully involved especially the first two days. Finally, I could not afford an interpreter and alone it was extremely hard explaining and engaging with the villagers. I had to cancel the treatment program in the three Loleria villages in Kaabong district. Because needs were so profound, I had to decide who to treat and who not to. Loleria villages in Kaabong District were my intended target for this initial treatment program. Their entire camps must be treated due to the severity of the infestation. Due to my limited supplies, I decided to take the program to Moroto district in Aworob and Kambizi villages.

In Aworob village I was helped by Anna, the fellowship leader there and in Kambizi village, Pastor Okwi and a Village Health Trainee helped me.  I decided to select only the elderly and the very-young who were adversely affected. The rest will be worked on in subsequent operations. Here I had to buy water for the people to bathe. The VHT helped in bathing the children. The photos show the few huts I could spray and the few people I could treat with the medicine. I wish I could have done more, but I am grateful to RABS for enabling this first phase. In Aworob, which is along Moroto-Kitale Road, I had to acquire soldiers from a nearby barracks for security. These areas still have tribal clashes and cattle raids using guns, spears, and arrows and some lives have been lost. I had to pay a fee to get three armed personnel to cover us. Some of the increased violence is due to the starvation conditions. Before the mission was over, my funds were gone. I had to call my wife, Lydia, to send me transport money to get back home.

We cannot treat all five villages now, but we can treat people, huts, and grounds in the Loleria Camps, Kolmeo, Nakatapan, and Mouledu tightknit neighborhoods greatly infected. There are between five and six hundred people including children in these 3 villages. A little less than four hundred are affected by one or more of these ailments. The budget is missing the cost of beans and rice, but greatly needed (costing $260.00 USD).

ESTIMATED BUDGET FOR DISINFECTING AND TREATMENT OF LOLERIA VILLAGE

Dear Beloved:

            I am sharing this need with you, because in the past you have helped Run Away Brides International Ministries care for these five Remote Villages of Karamoja Region, the desolate area of Northern Uganda.  RABS adopted these villages in late 2018. We began by helping students complete their educations. We now have fifteen full time students back in school. Your gifts helped start farming projects and now the villages have the tools they need for seasonal planting and harvesting. You have helped us in protecting against elephants raiding their gardens and crops. Your donations have allowed us to carry food and water into these villages and camps when even The Red Cross could not make it in because of flooding, washed out roads, and bridges. Now, Beloved, they are facing these new heartbreaking conditions. Please if you can help us with any amount in 2021, we would be incredibly grateful. Because of Covid-19, we did not ask for help in 2020, but now we need to help these that seemingly have been overlooked during the pressure of the pandemic by their government and large international ministries.

Scabies is an itchy, highly contagious skin disease caused by an infestation by the itch mite Sarcoptes scabiei. It is very painful and debilitating. My brothers and sisters created in the image of God, cannot sit, sleep, or walk comfortably because of scabies and jiggers. More than two thirds of these people in the camps of Loleria in Kaabong district are affected with these plagues.

This is the most disturbing and threatening phenomenon we found in all the villages we ministered to. Ninety percent of the children and sixty percent of the adults are suffering from scabies and jiggers. Some children cannot sit or walk. It is so sickening to see these folks limping with sores and swollen legs, hands, feet, palms, backs etc. These scabies are likely to be spread by rats. There are very many rats in these villages. Medical practitioners say the only way to help this community rid themselves of these infestations is by treating all the affected together. The whole operation will require pesticides, anti-scabies cream, rodenticide for rats, sprayers, antibiotics, pain killers, soap, protection gear, basins, paraffin and feeding for those involved. It is a heavy task. Scabies affects all ages and races and annually over 300 million cases are reported.

The program involves spraying and disinfecting the huts and compounds of homes of the affected persons which in this case covers whole communities because they stay close to each other. The spraying is aimed at killing all the jigger larvae and scabies parasites in the dust, floor, roofs, and walls. They are also given antibiotics to prevent or treat any infection or pus development. First, a thorough body washing using soap before anything is applied, then scabies cream is applied to the whole body. After the first three or four applications, we wait for four to seven days watching the progress of healing and then apply a second round of administration where needed.  

The truth is you and I can do something to help these beloveds in these remote villages. We are expected to be our brother’s keeper through responding to the hurts of the less fortunate. I ask you to express God’s love through helping in treating our brethren.

February 27, 2019 MAMA CYNDI’S MILLING PROJECT UPDATE

Although we went into full production on October 19, 2018 milling, we have had challenges and set-backs that slowed down our production. However, I am glad to report as of now the Mill is operating well. Our 2019 sales are excellent in spite of the increased cost (doubled) in corn by the ton. I was so happy to visit the Mill in January 2019 when I was in Uganda for the Annual RABS International Conference. I was accompanied by all of our National Directors and our RABS International Team and many visiting RABS leaders from all of the nations RABS is currently ministering in. We had many pastors from Uganda visit the Mill and everyone was so delighted to see the production and have a hand at hulling and milling with the help of the Mill’s professional millers.

The great increase in the corn cost is the result of a high-yield harvest in 2018 that saturated the market and many international traders bought much of the corn. In those areas where there are two and near the equator three annual harvests the lack of the latter year’s rain left the quality and quantity of marketable product at a very low production so demand and lack of supply has driven the prices to critical highs.

However, we have not lost hope, for we know the Lord is on our side and He is in full control of the weather conditions. We are believing Him and trusting for a another high yield this late Spring in particular areas and then again in the Autumn Harvest when much of Uganda soil is producing high-quality corn in vast amounts.

August 30, 2018, MAMA CYNDI’S MILLING PROJECT UPDATE

We have been preparing for the first day of operations at the Milling Project in Kiereka Kasokoso, Uganda. All electricity and special electrical devices and services for milling is completed.

All the water hook-ups completed and we have now served the community with clean and purified water for 2 months at a very low cost compared to the other water sellers in the community! The water sales will help pay the Mill’s Utility bills.

Our first load of corn, 9 tons, has been delivered. The final touches are being completed on the Mill’s machinery and will be installed on my, Pastor Cyndi’s,  61st Birthday (September 1st).  No better gift could I have asked our Heavenly Father for! Praise His holy name!  

Please join us in thanking the Lord of lord’s and King of kings our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus for His love and mercy He has extended through His grace in this kingdom assignment! No man or woman or ministry could have accomplished this if it had not been for God’s constant provision and protection!

We give Him all the glory and all the honor! For surely this is the manifestation of His unfailing love and we are forever grateful to Him! There has been no ministry funds used for this Milling Project, every expense has been literally provided by the Grace of Our Lord
